Chicago born, Jan Keyes now lives in bucolic Warren County, NJ with her husband and their wildlife friends.

Later this year she is planning to publish her creative non-fiction memoir, "Nobody's Daughter, My Quest for a Family."
In 2020, her essay, “The Intrusion” was selected and published in the award-winning anthology, Corona City, Voices From an Epicenter by Lorraine Ash, which features first-hand experiences with the new contagion, Covid 19 by those in the New York-New Jersey epicenter. 100% of the proceeds from the sale have been donated to Feeding America, which has generated hundreds of thousands of meals since publication.
Jan also was published in 2018 in the on-line magazine, Recovering the Self with her essay, “Being From Somewhere.”
Another essay, "The Feral Cat and the Once Feral Girl" is published on the Facebook group, Old Women Who Write and is reprinted here in Stories and Essays.
She has a daughter, two step-sons and four grandchildren.

Jan's other passions include her development of herbal salves, teas, and culinary spices.
