In 2020, her essay, “The Intrusion,” was selected and published in the award-winning anthology, Corona City, Voices From an Epicenter by Lorraine Ash, which features first-hand experiences with the new contagion, COVID-19, by those in the New York-New Jersey epicenter. 100% of the proceeds from the sale have been donated to Feeding America, which has generated hundreds of thousands of meals since publication.

 

Jan was also published in 2018 in the online magazine, Recovering the Self, with her essay, “Being From Somewhere.” 

 

Another essay, "The Feral Cat and the Once Feral Girl" is published on the Facebook group, Old Women Who Write and is reprinted here in Stories and Essays.

Finally, "The Day I Laughed Out Loud" is an unpublished essay that showcases the awkwardness of being the center of attention among older, unfamiliar friends of her foster mother.
